Race car driving has to be one of the most dangerous sports on earth, but driving at 150+ MPH has to be one of the top 10 most adrenaline pumping activities and no one loved it more than Dale Earnhardt Sr. Even if you don’t know much about NASCAR, you knew his name. Like the Michael Jordan of the race track, he was a legend who was taken too soon when his final race in 2001 left him dead. He was on his last lap when another racer’s car tapped Earnhardt’s and wound up taking his life. His death did however lead to safer barriers for future racers.
