Narcissists lie to manipulate their partners, and they conceal the truth about everything from what they had for breakfast to whether they’re cheating on you. When you do find out the truth, even if you have evidence, your narcissist will probably still deny everything.
A narcissist often makes cruel comments and pretends he didn’t. He may mock you or call you names and then insist you imagined it. This is known as gaslighting, and it’s a process designed to break you down mentally and emotionally so it’s easier for him to control you.
